    Default A Companion for Maverick

The breeder I got Maverick from has babies hatching and I'm going to get at least 1 more from her. Maverick's cage is HUGE and he's very social so I doubt he will have a problem with a cage mate or 2.

Maverick gets a new companion sometime Tuesday. A breeder not too far from me has a DNA sexed male and female so I'm going to get the female. She is almost weaned, down to 1 feeding/day and I think Maverick will be very happy. I have no plans to breed, just let Maverick have some company in his huge "mansion."

I will be picking up Maverick's new companion at roughly 1:00 this afternoon. It's about a 30 mile drive to an area where I got Maverick. No name yet but I will wait and see what her personality is like. She's down to 1 hand feeding/day and I'm hoping the change doesn't cause her to revert back to wanting more. Maverick is very acccepting of almost anything so I'm hoping this will go off without a hitch. This female has a brother and he is going to an acquaintance I made while searching for another Plum Head. Will update later this afternoon.

Maverick has a new companion but she is too young to put in his huge cage. Her flights are trimmed (not butchered) and his cage would be hard to navigate. Her hatch date is 3/17/24 so she's almost 2 months old. She's eating on her own, somewhat but not enough to keep herself alive so I have no problems hand feeding for another couple of weeks. She's very skiddish right now because she's by herself and everything is brand new. Once she gets used to us, I will try to get a couple of photos.

Yes. I think she is and she's absolutely adorable! She's starting to get used to us and she's learning the step up command. She will sit on my shoulder and pretty much stay put. If she tries to fly off, she takes a steep glide to the floor. I'm not happy about that, as I'm not sure if she ever learned to fly and land as expertly as she is supposed to do. Maverick can do a perfect landing anywhere he wants to. The breeder clipped 4 flights when I think 3 would have been much better. For now, I have her in a larger carrier that I've placed right next to Maverick's cage. He knows she's there and he's very interested. I think he thinks she's a baby that needs to be taken care of. There's not a mean bone in his body. I have a picture that I will upload to Imgur and then share here. This is the little female: https://imgur.com/9iihVoS
