Thread: Carnations

    Default Carnations

I was just wondering if carnations are toxic to birds? My fiance brought me some flowers home, and I just wanted to make sure they are safe for Estrella.

    Thanks!

I looked on 3 of my lists, and didn't find carnations, either safe or toxic. Hopefully someone else knows. The other plant I'm concerned about not finding on any list is the venus fly trap. So, if anyone responding to this post knows about either one, please let us know.

There are a number of flowering plants that are not on the toxic list that should very well be included. As well as certain foodstuffs too. Also, one part of a plant or vegetable may be safe, yet its leaves or stems are not. As usual its best to err on the side of caution. Don't take the risk whenever your not 100% sure. Of course, those carnations were meant for you and probably not the lovies anyways. Maybe put them in the closet and every now and then sneak off for a little sniff. ................Michael and Goofy lovebird
